So far this is an AMAZING processor! It is advertised as 4.8 max boost, but its actually 4.95 by default with pbo on, which I hit regularly. I simply turned on pbo, set curve optimizer -20 on 4 strongest cores, and -25 on the rest. My asus B550 seems to want to allow 1.44v core voltage by default, so i set a -.1 offset. All stability checks have succeeded, and have left comp on continuously while not in use, and no crashes. I’m using a fairly cheap vetroo 240mm AIO, and temps hover around 40-45 on low use, and run around 70-75 under full load awhile.
When I left the voltage on default, I was hitting 5.1ghz at times.

If you’re still on an am4 mobo and can’t find an x3d cpu to purchase then this is a pretty good option. 16c32t cpu for 300 bucks is a pretty sweet deal. Actually got a 50% increase in fps over my 5600 in some really cpu heavy games.

Got this on Black Friday for $413+ tax CAD. It replaced my 5900X which has been moved to my True nas server. So far the cpu has performed admirably and isn’t as hot as my 5900X (go figure). It also under volts better and I think I could do more but I’m just happy its better then the 5900X when it comes to under volting. My 5900X I could only get -8 on all core but with this chip I tried -11 and it worked and has been stable after my first attempt. I Could attempt a more aggressive under volt but I’m considering I changed nothing else with my setup and seem to have done better this time around with the silicon lottery. I would have liked to have done some rendering benchmarks vs the 5900X to see how much faster the 5900XT is vs that chip but it completely slipped my mind before i swapped over the chips. Either way my renders are finishing faster and I haven’t noticed a performance regression in games considering the 5900X base clock was 400mhz higher then the 5900XT. Overall great chip that will allow me to stretch out my AM4 platform another 2 years at least. Only thing I’m disappointed with is the naming scheme this chip should be called a 5950 non x just a plain 5950. AMD just did this to confuse its customers and make it seem like a new family of chips.

Glad I got the 5800x3d before they sold out. They don’t even compare in gaming performance in my opinion. The 5800x3d is better in every single way “with combo strike 3 enabled” and XMP ram. If you game buy a 5700x3d/5800x3d. Buy the 5900xt if you don’t

Considering you generally only have two options for processor brands, im not into complaining much. It is a high performance processor that holds up to AAA games, AM4 and AM5 sockets are easy to install processors into, as long as you’re wary of not bending the pins. Its a whole lot of power running through at <3 ghz which is a recipe for heat; water cooling is a must if you want what you’re expecting.

If you want to stay on AM4 with a good balance between productivity and gaming, this CPU is a beast! You might need a decent cooler though and tweak it with PBO along with Curve Optimizer to meet your needs on performance.

Upgraded from a R5 3600 to this and the difference if amazing. Mostly using it for voice file to text conversion. The app still uses all cores and threads to 100%, but processing is much faster.
