It just works. Easy to clean. You can unscrew the lid handle if it gets funky under there.

It’s stainless steel and it just works. No fancy bells or whistles — it cooks and it warms and it works for me (single person). No fancy shenanigans also means fewer points of failure.

For me, rice is life, and this rice cooker is a solid foundation to build upon. I’m necessarily frugal and I want reliability; this thing delivers. 10/10

Love this compact, simple to use rice cooker. It comes with a measuring cup and spatula like most rice cookers, but it is stainless steel, so no need to worry about the nonstick surface going bad. I use it to cook up basmati rice to perfection. I make two and a half cups (of the cup provided with the cooker) uncooked rice, and it is usually enough for 4 adults in my home. Simply measure rice, rinse it well (I rinse about 5-6 times), and then add one 8oz cup of water for each rice cooker cup of rice (in my case, this would be 2 and 1/2 cups or 20 oz. There is no timer to set or different buttons to fiddle with. Simply cover the cooker, and push the button down towards “cook,” and a short while later you have perfectly cooked rice. I haven’t timed it to see how long it takes to cook, but it doesn’t seem like it’s more than 20-25 minutes. Once the rice is done it automatically goes to warm. I also like that clean up is easy with soap and warm water. It comes with instructions you can follow for different varieties of rice.

Note – this is a Four and Half Star review, but Amazon doesn’t let me give those. The reason for the half star deduction is the paddle (see below). Here’s the 4.5 star bit:

I am not an “appliance” person, but there are a few things that make sense: electric tea kettle; waffle maker; blender; toaster; stand mixer. After that, meh. Or so I thought.

It’s really hot here right now, and so cooking is not appealing, but I wanted rice. What I didn’t want is a rice cooker that was huge or would heat up the kitchen or had non-stick, etc. So I didn’t think I wanted a rice cooker at all, because they all had some or all of those downsides, right?

Well, not this one. Here are its big upsides:

–stainless insert with the core at the bottom to transmit heat.
–well-rinsed rice means very little bubbling (I put a folded piece of paper towel in front, just in case)
–a little oil around the sides and no sticking
    –doesn’t heat up the kitchen
–it’s small and cute and all metal
    oh, and also
    –great rice
–versatile (like soup and noodles! and spaghetti!)
–perfect for one or two people

I can highly recommend this one. I had one 8 or so years ago, but non-stick liner started peeling, kinda large, and I just never replaced it. This is one of the few appliances I need or recommend, but do yourself a favor, especially if you cook for one or two, and get this one. It’s perfect. My only regret is that I got it in white.

The reason for the half-star deduction:
My ONLY criticism of it is that the photos show a bamboo rice paddle is included, but the rice paddle I got is a plastic one, something I’ll never use with food, and like we need one more plastic thing on this earth. It’s disappointing because I was happy to get a rice paddle that would store with the rice cooker, and I just hate being sold one thing and getting another. But in the mix of it, the paddle is only worth a half star off.
Fix that Aroma people, and you get a five star.

This item is priced very high, so I thought it would be good but was surprised to see that the item was not working

Quality is surely pretty good but quantity of cooked rice is limited barely for two persons.

As part of my effort to eliminate plastic in food preparation, I decided to invest in a stainless steel rice cooker—and it has been a fantastic decision. The stainless steel inner pot is not only safer but also ensures even cooking without any lingering odors or stains. It’s durable, easy to clean, and free from the concerns of harmful chemicals leaching into food. The rice comes out fluffy and perfectly cooked every time, and the cooker’s simple design makes it intuitive to use. This rice cooker has been a great addition to my kitchen and aligns perfectly with my commitment to a more sustainable and health-conscious lifestyle. Highly recommend it to anyone aiming to reduce plastic in their daily routine!

I have an old rice cooker/veggie steamer that I received for Christmas many decades ago that still works great. But the inner liner(or pot) is 100% aluminum. And we know that aluminum has been linked to Alzheimer’s. So now that I’ve switched to a Whole-Foods Plant-based diet/lifestyle, I eat tons more whole grain brown rice. The inner liner of the Aroma Housewares rice cooker is stainless steel! Score! And it cooks brown rice perfectly!! It is as simple and easy to use and clean as the old one. Measure the rice with the included cup & wash the rice. Place it in the pot. Fill with broth or water or a mix of both with the same measuring cup. Place the cover on. Plug it in. Push the button down to cook, and 30-40 minutes later you have perfect rice! You simply add extra liquid (1/2 to 3/4 cup) than normal white rice and let it sit on warm after the timer ends to give it more time to cook. You just have to experiment. The first time I cooked whole-grain brown rice per the chart and recommended water, it was just slightly chewy. So per the instructions I just added a 1/2 cup more water and left it sitting on warm. That did the trick to finish cooking till it was just perfect. The second time, I added more water than the first time and let it sit 10 minutes after the timer ended. Perfect rice! I haven’t cooked quinoa or barley yet. But they are in the cooking chart in the book it came with. I can’t wait to try cooking other grains!

Update: Now that I’ve used this rice cooker for a couple months, and about 6-8 times, to cook long-grain brown rice, I can say it’s a great cooker. And I saw the other reviews that complain about the cooker spewing water everywhere. That DID happen to me the very first time I used it. But after that, it never happened again even when cooking more than I did that first time. The first time I only used 2 cups of uncooked brown rice, and yes it did spew and starchy gloppy water went everywhere. It boiled over. But the next time I used it, I placed it in my sink anticipating a mess. I cooked 3 cups uncooked the second time, and NO MESS. The next time (3rd time) I placed it on my counter with a triple layer of paper towels underneath it, and again – no mess! So maybe it is some sort of coating that is scrubbed or cooked off, after the first use. Yes I did wash the inner pot when I unpacked it, before first use. So that may be the reason. But I’m here to tell you it hasn’t happened since. I highly recommend this rice / grain cooker. It’s perfect!

This cooker is advertised in the Dutch Amazon store but does not come with a plug that fits European outlets. It is an American plug.

The cooker outer shell had a stain mark though. The packaging was really nice. So far I have just unpacked and used it once – used 4 cups of Tilda basmati rice & 5 cups of water (so that the rice is a bit soft). And rice cooked really nice. I’m a perfectionist in terms of any purchase it’s hard to convince me, I keep returning things as long as it’s not up to my expectations and research. And this Rice cooker is worth every penny ( I bought it for $61), as the inner pot is stainless steel which is a healthier option to the nonstick ones. Hope this review helps.

    Update:
Have used 3/4 times a week for 3 months now. Works great, worth every penny. The stainless steel pot works as a storage pot too – I cook rice in it, once the rice is cooked down, I store this with the lid on in the refrigerator and this pot works great. Easy to clean up the remaining rice from pot before next cooking. Highly recommend and for sure worth every penny!
