I just bought it. My first impression is that it is excellent!!! The DJI app is super-efficient and makes it much easier to use. In my case, two parts were missing. It comes with the charger cable, the manuals, a case to protect it and I separately bought a silicone protection for the main light, also a protection for both screens. The image quality is impressive, it records in its natural color but with its “recover color” mode it is impressive how it highlights the colors and heyy, it records directly live on Facebook and YouTube with the app. I connected it to the DJI app and used it watching what I recorded on my phone, it is extraordinary. The wide angle records very well and the ultra wide angle is incredible, the video quality is maintained. One thing I noticed is that it does get a little hot but nothing out of the ordinary, especially when recording in 4k, it records a little more than 5 hours!!! The quick mode switch button makes it very easy to switch from photo to video among other options that can be selected, I am more than satisfied. I will try it in different environments, for now I recommend it 100%. Also, with the DJI app you can download videos and photos and make edited videos in the app. I am going to buy a diving case and I will try it. I think that it has a better resolution than the GoPro, but it is up to each person, I am satisfied.

So far it’s a great camera, but missing one feature: On my ancient GoPro Hero3+, I could play back recorded videos right into a monitor.. I used a micro-HDMI-to-HDMI cable. The Action 5 Pro has a USBC output. It will feed live (but not recorded) video into a monitor, when using a USBC-to-HDMI cable. DJI Support suggested that I purchase a UVC to HDMI adapter. This would cost another $169.00. That seems like a lot of money to gain a very basic feature. If anyone has any suggestions for solving this problem, please let me know.

Camera seemed solid enough, but use is limited to 5 times until it’s “activated” by their app. Unfortunately, the app isn’t in the Google Play Store, so it must be “side-loaded” to a phone. That’s a deal breaker. I had an old iPad from 2018 (unlike Google, the app is in the Apple App Store), so I activated it with that. The first video was super disappointing, with a very soft and mushy look to it. It was highly compressed and a major step back from my GoPro Hero 9, which is a four year old camera. My Samsung Galaxy s23 in wide mode was a much better image, too. A firmware update got the Action 5 Pro looking much better with “Hi-Bitrate” mode, but still not as good as my s23. I returned it, but now it’s linked to my account and no way to remove it without calling or texting customer support. Just a terrible experience all around.

Only have had it for a couple of days now. It is small and built solid. The included cage and glass lens cover are great included accessories. Use of the camera is simple with a lot of optional features. A big selling point for me is the larger sensor. Set up with all the accessories was a breeze including the Mimo App.

I’ve been using the original DJI Osmo Action since 2019, and it’s been such a reliable camera that I hadn’t felt the need to upgrade. However, the Osmo Action 5 Pro release finally convinced me, and I’m glad it did.

The most immediately noticeable difference is the jump in image quality. The new sensor captures remarkable detail, and the 4K video at 120fps is incredibly smooth. The improved low-light performance is a huge benefit, primarily since I often shoot in less-than-ideal lighting. The color rendition is also more accurate and vibrant, and the wider dynamic range is a definite plus. The option for 4:3 capture provides greater flexibility in post-production, which I appreciate.

RockSteady 3.0 is a significant step up from the stabilization of the original Osmo Action. It effectively eliminates even the most jarring movements, resulting in incredibly smooth and professional-looking footage. The dual touchscreens are a fantastic addition, making framing and adjusting settings much easier, especially when self-recording.

The build quality remains robust, just like my original Osmo Action. I’ve used it in various conditions, including white water rafting and kayaking, and it’s held up perfectly. The battery life is also a noticeable improvement, addressing one of my few complaints about the first generation.

The DJI Mimo app is functional, but there’s still room for improvement in user experience and feature set.

Honestly way better than I even expected. I use it for in car footage for my racing stuff, as well as hyper lapse and just general coverage and it was great. Connected to my phone easily, downloaded quickly, and the touchscreens are easy to use. You can see footage at my PJNorthRacing on YouTube to see clarity and visual quality.

I was a Insta360 diehard fan. I owned the Insta360 Ace Pro 1 and a few of the One RS modular action cameras, owned the X1 and the X2 360 cameras, and was about to upgrade to the Ace Pro 2 when I decided to do a little research on the latest generation of action cameras, which I primarily use in my scuba diving with some usable above water hiking…so that this with a grain of salt.

To me, I have to say that the quality, size, weight, and screen size, features, color profiles, color range, camera control, versatility, native integration into the DJI ecosystem (Mic 2 or Mic Mini) is so much better than the competition. I bought the DJI Mic Mini and love how it pairs with the OAP5 natively and makes the audio worlds better. I definitely am now a convert to DJI and am looking forward to recording a lot more of my adventures.

    10/10 would recommend
