I was so torn on switching from Apple & not knowing which Garmin to go with. I’m not a fitness person but I do like to track my steps and get some health insights. But I’m not tracking crazy workouts or anything like that.

I have all Apple products and have been loyal to Apple since I got an iPhone 4. What made me want a Garmin is simply just that it’s more feminine and circular. I don’t need my watch to work like a phone either. The vivoactive 5 has checked all the boxes for me. Price point is good, the battery life is crazy good, it’s lightweight, good quality, seems durable(I did put a screen cover on to protect against scratches as a precaution though) and I feel like the step count and heart rate is accurate. The sleep insights are pretty spot on too.

I truly forget I’m wearing it which is crazy because I can’t even keep earrings in or sleep with my wedding ring on but I have no problem sleeping with my watch on.

The only con is that the vivoactive 5 doesn’t have an option that I’ve seen for silver with the ivory wristband. And that there isn’t nearly as many third party accessories available for it like there is for Apple.

I have enjoyed Garmin quality products in the past, so when looking for a new smartwatch, I compared Garmin’s innovative features with other comparable models. This Garmin Vívoactive 5 was exactly what I needed at an affordable price. Some of the features I most appreciate are as follows:
    * Battery lasts for several days
    * Watch is sleek and stylish
    * I love that I can choose a watch face that is most conducive to my needs
    * The text and data are bright, colorful, and easy to read
    * Garmin has a great phone app to track my health and fitness data
    * I find the Sleep Score and Sleep Coach very helpful
    * The Body Battery, Stress, and Heart Rate monitors are beneficial
    * It is ‘drag and drop’ easy to customize
    * The Garmin quality and reliability is unmatched

I decided to order a Garmin Vivoactive 5 when my Fitbit Versa expired on me in Nov.2024. It took a couple of weeks for it to arrive, mainly due to the holiday season, but it has been worth it. The battery life on it is much longer than what I previously had on Fitbit, and there are a lot of features available. It will take a while to familiarize yourself with so many features, but once you do they will be worth it. If you use it to monitor your workouts, as I do, there are many categories of workouts that it will evaluate, running, walking, strength workouts, biking, cardio, etc. You get great data on your sleep patterns, morning reports, weather updates, etc. What I enjoy is that when you download the Garmin app on your phone you can use your data from Garmin to enter into competitions with other Garmin members. Fitbit, once bought out by Google, began to eliminate a lot of the groups and competitions you could be involved in, so Garmin was a breath of fresh air in this. The band on the watch feels great and the watch looks stylish. I am sure that there are a ton more features out there that I have not even gotten to yet, but my impressions on a Garmin smartwatch is that they are definitely worth the money if you enjoy using a smartwatch daily.

I received the watch and it was used before. The watch and cable were just loosely lying inside the box without any protection. The screen protector plastic was not on anymore and the screen even had stains. Very poor experience!

Bought Garmin because it is much better at synchronizing with my iPhone and sharing health data. Only complaint: Bluetooth signal strength with earbuds seems much weaker than my former Galaxy3 watch in the gym as it periodically drops music when the gym is busy. Otherwise it’s a good value for its simplistic design and the battery life is epic compared to my former watch

I wanted a smart watch that wasn’t as much a tiny phone on your wrist. Don’t get me wrong this watch has most of those features: notifications, call notifications, find my phone, timer, flashlight, mobile pay ect. But the interface isn’t as “integrated” as apple and I like it for this reason. I really enjoy the tracking and health features this watch offers and I like the navy color. I did change out my strap because I don’t personally like silicon. The edge of the watch face is from a screen protector I applied also. So far the battery life has been great and I’ve been more motivated to be more active because I like reaching goals and seeing my charts change. I also like the sleep tracker it is nice to see a snapshot of how you slept. There is also a nap option and brpm heart rate pulse ox you can track your water and calories ect. Also a gps! This watch as some crazy features packed in!

I don’t need a fancy Garmin, I just wanted to monitor my heart rate walking, elliptical, treadmill, basic exercise. 12 day battery, great LED watch face, easy to see and read, works great. Easy to set. Fast link for exercise. Interfaces with arm heart monitors from I-fit to Scoshe. Highly recommend! Great upgrade from Vivoactive 3!

I wanted to upgrade from my Fitbit to something that holds a charge longer and stays synced with my phone without having to keep the app open. A Garmin watch seemed to fit the bill. It’s probably a little fancy for my needs, but I’m very happy with the features so far.

The watch arrived and was very easy to set up. It looks great (not too big), functions great (user friendly), does a great job of tracking sleep, and the touch screen is worlds better than my Fitbit ever was. I haven’t had it long enough to comment on the scratch resistance of the screen.

After wearing it for a couple of the weeks, a pretty crucial piece fell off the watch band (see the picture). I was disappointed and a little annoyed at first, but Amazon quickly sent me a replacement that arrived 2 days after I contacted them. I also ordered some more bands to have on hand in case this ever happens again.

I’m looking forward to using this watch to get back into running next summer as it has the built-in coaching feature. I don’t think you’ll find anything better for the price (and I didn’t get it on sale— ha).
