I purchased this device for a specific use case of mounting it inside of a motorcycle helmet.
I had seen many people doing something similar and everyone seemed to be using this device.
I researched G3S vs G3 and finally just settled on the G3S.
The way the camera tries to pick the orientation of recording based on what position it was in when you clicked the button is super annoying.
But even worse was the device was just completely unusable…
It would overheat and get scorching hot so quickly! I did a test and at 1080p recording it overheated from room temperature in 3 minutes. I put the device in my fridge to try to give it the best shot at not overheating and it only made 11 minutes before over heating while just walking around.
Returned it and bought a different brand camera and have no regrets

Easy to use and so subtle if you wanna be lowkey when vlogging. I can’t wait for the next upgrade and I hope they improve the video quality. it’s not the worst, but there’s room for improvement. I love this thing so much, it comes with me everywhere.

This new version of the excellent Go 3 camera is sadly lacking in horizontal stability. You cannot get a 4k or even a 2.7k video with horizon stable without dramatic loss of angle of view. The cropped down result looks like your iphone on normal video setting. And the iphone can give you 4k with wide angle of view. True you don’t get the horizon stable with the iphone, but the viewfinder is so huge that you are rarely off by that much. The whole idea behind a mini camera is the spontaneous shots with different mounts. Also, this new version is a bit heavier and bulkier. You notice it. I returned it, sadly.

UPDATE: I’ve been contacted by Insta360 support, and their customer service and aftercare have been amazing. While I can’t give a full 5 stars as I believe the issue still persists, I encourage you to try the camera for yourself—especially knowing you’ll be supported by an excellent aftercare team. In the meantime, I went for the Insta360 X4, and it’s amazing! If you have the budget, I highly recommend it.
The Insta360 GO 3S is a cute, compact vlogging camera with some nice features, but it has its issues. The 4K video quality is impressive for such a tiny device, and it’s super portable, making it easy to carry around. However, I was really disappointed with the overheating problem. After just a short period of use, it tends to get quite warm, which can be a real hassle when you’re trying to capture extended footage.
The user interface is decent, but I found it a bit clunky at times. The battery life is average, which is understandable given its size, but combined with the overheating, it limits how long you can shoot in one go.

…und natürlich Videos!
Ich benutze die Go3 S zusammen mit einem zirkularen Polfilter und filme damit Autos und auch Situationen, in denen eine normale Kamera zu auffällig wäre und verwende eigentlich hauptsächlich die magnetische Halskette.
Ich habe sowohl die LEDs als auch den Piep-Ton ausgeschaltet, damit niemand merkt, dass ich gerade filme.
Auch gut ist die Halterung für die Cap.
Mir sind viele Bilder pro Sekunde wichtiger als die maximale Auflösung, deshalb filme ich in 2,7k mit 50 Bildern und nehme im engen Sichtfeld auf, da mir der Fisheye-Look gar nicht gefällt.
Beim Mikrofon ist meiner Meinung nach „Stereo“ am besten, da der Sound hier am realistischsten wiedergegeben wird und die Windunterdrückung macht die Videos extrem leise und man hat das Gefühl, man sei irgendwie unter Wasser.
Also ich kann die Go3 S wirklich nur empfehlen, auch zusammen mit einem Polfilter.
