I’m very new to drones and I wanted a good “starter drone.” However this one will be with me for awhile. The ease of flying, ease of setup, and ease of use in general had me sold.
If you’re looking for a drone with great picture/video, decent range and price point, just buy this one, honestly. You can YouTube reviews and by and large they’ll impress you. Though I don’t think reviews will do it justice. It has super clear video and pictures when you’re moving slow with good connection.
This package is cheaper than many drones by themselves too. It’s well worth it when you consider the cost of batteries and carrying case.
As an amateur this thing was super easy to fly. The stability is fantastic. The return to home is decent enough. (Might land about a meter or less off from where it took off) and the other features, track, follow, orbit etc. Are super fun. I use this a ton when I go out hiking or camping. The range is so good! Just auto safety features like connection loss and low battery makes it atuo return.
Only thing I’d point out is to make sure the satellite icon isn’t red prior to take off.(it needs like +6 satellites or something) It will drift when you do that. I found out the hard way on a hike lol. Ended up hiking down an embankment to get it. It was totally fine though. Bit dirty and a couple marks but other than cosmetic damage it was good.
Last thing I will say is you 100% need to take the free TRUST FAA course when flying ANY drone. Even the 250 grams and less ones like this one. It’s free and super easy. There’s more info on YouTube, but yeah it’s a new law here in the USA.

I am really impressed with this little thing. It is really easy to setup and start flying for a noob like me, and the controls are easy to pickup and get used to. The video quality on this here is pretty impressive too, especially considering the price.
The footage is really stable, even when in `sport mode` and going pretty fast (like 20mph in winds) – and the gimbal is easy to control and get the shots that I want without thinking about it too hard.
One thing I noticed is that in `auto` mode while filming, it can really blow out highlights if there is a lot of contrast, say with green trees and white sidewalk. Fortunately you can modify the the ISO and shutter speed to help combat this, but it isn’t always ideal since you only have so many flight minutes per battery. I’m hoping later firmware updates will help here, but I’m not holding my breath – and it isn’t really a big deal.
Battery life is really respectable, I am impressed with how long this thing flies. In my tests its like 20 minutes before I land, but I tend to land with some battery left in case I see something else I want to film or fly over – so I don’t doubt the advertised 30 minute flight time (assuming the right conditions)
The GPS is pretty good, and I quite like the autoreturn and autoland features, but I’ve gotten more comfortable doing both manually (its kind of fun) so I don’t use that as much now. But it works, and works pretty good.
I don’t have any complaints, I really like this thing and look forward to flying it when ever I see a nice day out. It checked all my boxes too:
– be a good price
– have good and stable footage
– have at least 20 minutes of flight time per charge
I didn’t try any of the intelligent flight modes, and I’m not really super interested in them – but if I do try them I’ll update this review with additional information on what I think about them.
But overall: this is a great drone, I love it and would buy another in a heartbeat.

The Potensic Atom is simple to setup and get flying. It is very easy to control. The video was better than I expected. The Fly More package with the triple battery charger and case was a worthwhile option to buy. The nicely padded case that comes with the Fly More option fits everything safe and snug. Nicely done.
The attached image to this review is a screen capture from the drone of the first video I took within 5 minutes of first flying the Atom. The drone was about 15 feet away from the wife and dog and it didn’t bother either of them at all, even though she was blowing the drone a raspberry. The drone is very quiet. The video is unretouched and straight from the memory card of the drone. Very nice image quality, in my humble opinion. The video output is an MP4 file format in 4K at 3480×2160 pixels and 30fps.
The remote control uses two control sticks that are screwed onto the remote when in use and unscrewed and stored on the remote control when not in use. Nice setup, but I will lose a few, I know me. So, I bought a few. They are $9 for 2 sticks. I also bought extra propeller blades at about $14 for a complete set of 8 blades (2 blades per each of 4 motors). Again, I know me, so I bought 5 extra sets. Both the controller sticks and the propeller blades are from Potensic on Amazon.
The drone also has a non-GPS flight mode using what is oddly called the Time of Flight sensor(ToF). It has a ground observing capability to fly without GPS if within 25 feet or so of the ground. This is primarily for indoor use and it works great! Scared the dog, but the drone was easily controllable indoors.
From the manual: “The ATOM is equipped with a downward vision system, it is located beneath the drone. The Downward Vision System consists of a monocular camera and a TOF module. The TOF module includes a transmitter tube and a receiver tub, it can precisely calculate the fly height above the ground by
calculating the infrared signals transmission and receiving time. In combination with the monocular camera, the system can help achieve high-precision positioning at low altitudes.”
People ask about drones, “Is this drone for beginners?” The Potensic Atom is suitable for beginners due to its ease of control, and I expect other than for commercial users, the Atom will do great for most other people. The features of this drone compare favorably to any other drone I researched before I bought the Atom.
The remote controller needs a cell phone for display. I am using a 2021 Motorola g-power I had sitting in a drawer. No need to have an activated cell phone, just a phone to use as a display. A current phone that is activated works just fine too. The controller adjusts to your phone size. I did notice that Potensic seems to only offer Android and Apple iOS software for the controller. The phone must be able to connect to the Internet (I used WiFi) and download the Potensic controller app. The drone package came with USB-C and Apple Lightning connectors cables to connect the phone to the remote control. The Potesnic Pro app loaded onto the Motorola Android phone without any issues. Also, the remote controller communicates with the drone, so the phone only needs to be able to run the controller software. Meaning, the phone doesn’t need to be anything special.
I am initially impressed with the drone’s packaging, storage case, quality, ease of setup and use, and the quality of the video. I haven’t even started to look into the various advanced capabilities of this drone, but I am looking forward to doing so. Enjoy!

Great value, takes fantastic pics and videos.
My first drone and it’s easy to fly, great stability.
Charges the 3 batteries simultaneously unlike my sons DJI which charges one at a time.
The app is great, follow me works well. I love the quick shots function.
Controller is solid and great to use, everything is laid out really well.

Brilliant little drone that has exceeded my expectations. When I first opened the box I thought how small the drone was. Not expecting much, I got it up and running and was really surprised at the stability and picture quality. It really is so easy to fly and the added bonus is if you get into trouble you just tell it to return home by itself.
I think the instructions could do with better explanations. The tutorial videos are good but don’t fully explain what the different settings do. Trial and error will probably resolve this in time.
Aside from that, there is nothing to dislike.
I did have an issue with headless mode. (Look it up if, like me, you had no idea what it is) The tutorial video mentioned it but I couldn’t find a setting in the app. After contacting Potensic support, who i have to say are excellent, they said that due to patent infringment they could no longer support this function. They apologised profusely and sent me a spare set of blades for my inconvenience. They seem to be a company who really want to stand out in terms of customer service and they really wanted to know where this mode was mentioned in the video so that the information could be corrected.
There’s too much to mention about the drone’s capabilities. Look at the online reviews. I found them to be very useful in terms of finding out what the drone can do.
Summing up. I don’t have any other drones so don’t know how this one compares. What I can say is that it totally impressed me with it’s flight stability, camera quality and battery life. I got the fly more set with 3 batteries which, personally, I think is worth it. Time will tell if I use it enough though. You feel comfortable flying it even after a few flights. If you go the wrong way, just take your hands off the controls and it will sit there rock solid until you regain your composure.
Also rest assured that if you do encounter a problem or have a question, Potensic customer service will be there to support you. I think this is worthy of mention.
My advice would be if having watched the various videos online, you think this is the right drone for you then go for it. You won’t be disappointed.

My first drone and a noobie as one can get. We are not delving too much into the details here as I feel one needs to do their research when determining what drone may work best for them. I read/watched oodles of reviews before coming to the conclusion the Potensic Atom would be best suited as my first drone.
Overall super impressed with the fly more kit as everything looks and feels premium. Love the RC and its formfactor as it feels so natural to use. The 60W charging hub that provides a quick-charge for 3 batteries at once, in 1.5 hours, is a big bonus. Included in the package is a very nice case to hold all the gear including the drone.
So far I’ve had one “test” flight yet we were super impressed how things went for someone who’s green as one could be for novice drone pilot. Yes I was super nervous but shortly into the flight the drone’s “smart” features/abilities had me somewhat at ease. Never once did I feel the drone was out-of-control not even a smidgen. It’s the time of the year when wind gusts where I live can get a bit excessive, bummer cuz I’m really looking forward to another flight… Once we have more flight time under our belt I’m sure we’ll feel much more comfortable flying it in the wind, but until then we’ll just need to remain patient.
I flew in lighting conditions that were less than optimal so there was a fair amount of grain in the video, no surprise as the reviews pointed that out. Even though, we were still very impressed the image quality and stability the 3-axes gimble provides. Definitely yearning for more now, yet those “nice” days are becoming far-n-few between so hopefully we don’t have to wait too long.
Right now as of my review the Potensic Atom is discounted with an additional coupon that can be applied. Very good price in my opinion for something of this caliber. Also included in the package, for a limited time, is a 64GB Lexar MicroSD card. So other than providing a smartphone for the RC everything else is there to start flying A.S.A.P.

After watching all the videos online and reading all the positive comments I decided to try this Potensic ATOM 3-Axis Gimbal 4K GPS, Under 249g, 96 Mins Flight Time, Drone. It looked really good and flew great the first few times. I was really happy. No problem.. I had 21 satellites and it was flying in the GPS Mode.. But after a few take offs and landings, when I launched the drone, it would not hover., it started to wander side by side. I launched it about a dozen times and the same thing happened… It did not hover.. I installed the app again and started all over again, re-setting the compass and rebooting the drone and the remote.. When launching the drone again, it lifted off the pad fine but still wouldn’t hover… I still had 21 satellites in the GPS mode and there was no wind blowing at all.. Calm as ever. This drone has a problem.. I was afraid to take it higher than 8 feet since it started to wonder around and I couldn’t control it and I had to land it… So, I got a bad one.. After reading lots of negative reviews online, I know what they are talking about.. Mine was acting similar to what others were experiencing. I am really afraid of trying another one since I will probably get another bad one, so I boxed it up and I returned it. I am not happy with the performance of it at all.. I have a half a dozen holy stone drones and none of them every acted this way, and most of them have the GPS feature, but none of them have a gimbal camera system, and the photos and videos are horrible. I wanted this new one for is the 3-axis gimbal feature as it make the videos look amazing.. I take lots of videos and photos. I am not a newbie and know how to fly drones, it is just that this one didn’t want to fly for me.. I got a bad one and I am not pleased about that and that is why I returned it. Now I have to wait for 16 days to get my money refunded, how crazy is that?

Update: September 5th, 2024
Since there were too many positive comments and videos on this drone, I just knew I had got a bad one, I decided to try another, so I ordered and received a new Potensic ATOM., which I am currently testing now.. This new one seems to be working great and it hovers very well., no deviation at all in the wind at about 8 mph.. I have made a few videos with it so far. Several times, I took it up to 30 meters, yawed it 360 degrees from right to left , stopping frequently and then landed it., and so far everything looks very good… I will be testing it out daily. (weather permitting. ) There are a lot of features about it that I don’t need, but for the most part everything looks good.. The 4K videos are stunningly beautiful and there was no lag or jerkiness in them at all.. I have a few things yet to test out, including the RTH feature and how to set the parameters in the app. So far, so good…

Update: September 6th,2024
I have uploaded a video to show how stable this ATOM will hover and return to home… I took the drone up to 50 meters and yawed it around 360 degrees and then landed it using the RTH feature.. It worked flawless. Wind was about 6 – 8 mph at the time.. The quality of the original 4K video is wonderful. This uploaded version has been crunched down to 1080p at less than 280mb so as I could upload to Amazon easily. All in all, I am still testing the drone and will post more information in the coming days.. So far, I am very happy with this ATOM and how stable it is.. So, would I buy another? Yes, without hesitation.

This is my first drone and Im glad I went with this instead of something bigger and more expensive. This is the perfect platform to learn on and it is very easy to fly. Anything more powerful and I would probably get myself into trouble because Im new to drones. For 350 bucks this is a crazy good deal. 90 minutes of flight time is a lot and the whole package just feels extremely high quality. Nothing feels cheap at all. The camera takes very high quality video and pictures and is perfectly stabilized. Im definitely going to get my license because Im hooked and I want to use the footage for my videos and my business. I would hands down recommend this drone. I looked at every option in this price and category and this is the best deal.

Amazing drone for the money. Quality is great. Very comparable to the DJI mini 4K. Footage looks good, pictures are not bad. Very stable and lots of features. I bought the fly more package and I think the only thing missing from the packed is an extra set of knows for the controller in case you lose them but they are cheap to purchase. The extra batteries are great and the charger is amazing! They all charge simultaneously and they charge in about 75 minutes. Something that no review on YouTube has is that the charger has an extra USB port to charge the controller as well. So you can charge the 3 batteries and the controller or 4 batteries all at the same time.
