    The book is very well written by someone who KNOWS a lot of cool stuff about self-discipline. You will learn a lot! The book is very well organized throughout the chapters, and, even better, there is a nicely-prepared SUMMARY of each chapter at the end of the book. If you are struggling with self-discipline (as I was) this book will give you new insights on how to get on your way. Now, if you’ve finished reading this review, it’s time to go do what you know you should be doing! 🙂

    Vorrei aver letto questo libro 20 anni fa (solo che è stato scritto nel 2021), penso che mi avrebbe cambiato la vita.
    Dal titolo sembrerebbe uno di quegli inutili manuali, molto americani, per migliorare sè stessi e avere successo, che sembrano un po’ fatti in serie… Nella realtà è molto pratico, individua davvero i meccanismi che stanno dietro il nostro procrastinare le cose che dobbiamo fare e insegna alcune tecniche per riuscire a spezzare questo cerchio di rinvio e sensi di colpa…Ho scoperto che pure il “fare qualcos’altro invece della cosa che dobbiamo fare”, (del tipo: dovrei fare una cosa che non ho proprio voglia di fare, e allora non la faccio, però al suo posto pulisco il bagno oppure stiro) non è un’azione utile a cambiare il nostro atteggiamento ma invece lo rafforza (e io che invece ero contenta di fare almeno qualcosa di utile invece della cosa che dovevo fare… )
    Ne consiglio la lettura a tutti (almeno a quanti conoscolo l’inglese), qualcosa di utile secondo me lo trova chiunque, sia per il lavoro che per la vita privata.

    I feel like there was a lot of basic common sense information. I came away not really knowing a LOT more but there were a couple of tips that made stuck with me and have helped me be more self disciplined in a few areas of my life. I’ll try some of the other tips out as well – but some just aren’t practical.

    The book was riddled with typo’s though. It wasn’t too distracting but they could use a good proofreader/editor or something.

    I thought the “5-minute exercises to build self control” is a bit misleading because I expected the book to be more about that when, in reality, it was short chapters that each didn’t really give practical exercises you can use in your every day life to help build self control.

    Overall it was an okay book.

    EDIT: I am upping it to 4 stars just because there was a chapter towards the beginning that talks about excuses for not doing things and how it affects you and THAT chapter really resonated for me and I have made huge strides in self discipline over the last few weeks specifically because it taught me to call out my excuses and do whatever I’m supposed to do anyways. I haven’t missed a day of exercising or cleaning in over 2 weeks because I’ll be like “I’m too stressed to clean” and then I’ll be like “No that’s a f***ing excuse you’re GOING to clean” and then I’ll clean. So props to that chapter!

    An okay book. Pretty basic information, but a good reminder. SO many typos (misspellings, repeated words, etc.) which was a bit of a distraction and sometimes made me wonder if I understood the what the author was conveying.

    Es hat einen angenehmen Schreibstill.
    Am Ende eines Kapitels hat man eine Zusammenfassung und am Ende des Buches findet sich ebenfalls eine Zusammenfassung der einzelnen Kapiteln.
