Description

USA TODAY BESTSELLER • Easy, delicious ketogenic recipes all with ten ingredients or less, from the founder of the mega-popular keto website Wholesome Yum.

“Loaded with family-friendly keto staples that don’t take hours to prepare, this book is a slam dunk for keto beginners and experts alike.”—Mark Sisson, New York Times bestselling author of The Keto Reset Diet and The Primal Blueprint

NAMED ONE OF THE BEST COOKBOOKS OF THE YEAR BY BUZZFEED

There’s a reason that the ketogenic diet has become so wildly popular: It truly works! And weight loss is just the beginning. Studies have shown that the keto diet stabilizes mood, raises energy levels, controls blood sugar, lowers blood pressure, improves cholesterol, and more.

Unfortunately, many people are intimidated by keto–they don’t have a lot of time to cook, they have a whole family to feed, or they worry that they’ll miss their favorite meals. That is why Maya Krampf created her now hugely popular website, Wholesome Yum, to share easy keto recipes all with ten ingredients or less. And now, in her first cookbook, Maya is determined to show people that a keto lifestyle does not have to be complicated, time-consuming, unsustainable, or boring.

The Wholesome Yum Easy Keto Cookbook features 100 super-simple, I-can’t-believe-that’s-keto recipes including flourless chocolate chip peanut butter waffles, sheet pan sausage breakfast sandwiches, crispy keto chicken fingers, spaghetti squash ramen soup, keto garlic bread sticks, cinnamon roll pizza, and much more. You don’t have to give up your favorite foods–virtually anything you like to eat can be made keto, and delectably so. The book also features a primer on the keto diet, essential pantry-stocking tips, and a section dedicated to creating Maya’s signature “fathead” keto dough that is used to prepare delicious keto breads, pastries, tortillas, and more.

I have eaten healthy, for the most part, my whole life so I know basic simple unprocessed fresh ingredients keep a body healthy and happy. I found Maya’s blog/website years ago and loved her way of eating and cooking instantly. I grew up in our family’s restaurant and I am a self taught chef. I live to eat and love cooking. I used to have a huge collection of cookbooks before the Internet was around and can venture on my own using my senses to cook. Then, things changed with my health and the traditional way of eating and cooking had to change for me. I developed autoimmune issues and my body became riddled with inflammation and constant pain. I had to learn how to cook in a new way with sometimes unconventional ingredients. Back, of course, I went to Maya’s blog as there were so many new ingredients like nut flours and oils besides my go to olive oil. I found that due to my excitement for cooking and learning new ways to incorporate all these new ingredients, I was getting information overload. I would get frustrated from bouncing through even Maya’s blog. And let’s face it, all those pop up ads are annoying. So, even after I stopped collecting cookbooks and refuse to clutter up my life with cookbooks I won’t use, I couldn’t resist buying this cookbook. For me, I need a cookbook that is simple due to my small window for feeling well enough to cook on most days. I also wanted color photos and less words in a cookbook as I am a visual learner. This cookbook is a perfect blend of amazing mouthwatering photos and easy simple recipes that fit into my life living with chronic pain. There’s tons of tips within each recipe along with knowing that you can go to Maya’s blog for either videos of the recipes or further information on an ingredient or technique. I am very impressed! This will be replacing my once beautiful cookbook open on my counter. I am excited to get these pages dirty from so much use, something I would never ever do in my life!!!

So I just barely started going Keto. First I cut back on carbs. No pasta, bread, potatoes. I lost 10 lbs in 2 wks. But there my fat sat for two months, kind of going up, kind of going down. Depended on my exercise, mostly. Because I didn’t always feel up to working out, I had hit a wall. So I decided to go full on Keto, at least until I got rid of this gut. I had looked for Keto cookbooks locally. Nothing. I searched Amazon, looking at reviews, images, samples. Just wasn’t feeling it. Then I found this one. Lots of samples of the book. I was very interested in this one because she really got into the different flours and different sweeteners. She also has alternatives of flours, etc. Some of the things she says about Keto seemed to be spot on with Dr. Eric Berg’s thoughts, and I really liked that because it was Dr. Berg who got me going low carb, and now Keto (super low carb). I have not made any recipes from this book yet, but am REALLY looking forward to it. I am excited about Keto now, more than ever. This is going to be so cool!! PS – The worst thing about the book – and it’s not a deal breaker because there are many recipes without flour – is that most of the flour recipes use Almond Flour. I cannot have almond anything due to kidney stones. When she talks about the flours she states something that I had been curious about, and that is whether coconut flour can be substituted for almond flour. She states that it cannot, due to different consistency and other qualities. She does have a coconut alternative recipe for her “Fathead” dough recipe, however, which is great! Can’t wait to try it! I really realllllly appreciate that knowledge, and her being “up front”, but… I wish there were a bit more coconut flour and other recipes :'( I’ll figure something out with those almond flour ones cus they sound really good. And if these photos are the real deal, they look really good!

PS – In a later book, she states that Sunflower Meal can replace Almond Flour 1:1.

I started to follow Maya online and realised that she had published a book. I ordered it and am happy to say that so far, all the recipes I have tried have been superb. They are easy to follow and make you feel as though you’re eating the usual high carb food! If you are following this way of life, her recipe book is the way to go! I’ve been doing this for well over 3 years but have been re-energised having bought the book. My husband (Type 2 diabetic with insulin) is very happy and doesn’t feel deprived. The only issue I have in England is that some of the ingredients are impossible to buy here, like allulose. I sincerely hope this will be rectified in the near future. Apart from that, the ingredients are relatively simple to find especially as most are available on Amazon. I have told my sisters (one has also bought the book and loves it) and the other one will probably buy it soon. Also bought it for my sister-in-law for her birthday as she is gluten-intolerant. She is now inspired too! If you want to eat healthily and deliciously, buy this book. You will not regret it.
