I love how the gps remote interacts with the camera and being able to see what’s being shot and knowing I can drop gps data into it after. Without tying up my phone.

As a user of the Insta360x2, then the X3 I was keen to get my hands on the Insta360 x4. I love my 360 cameras which allow me to be highly creative with my videos and sometimes stupid videos.
The New X4 did not disappoint, it’s a great camera and although it’s a bit bigger, it’s a little harder to run around with it in your mouth for NoseMode but not enough to stop me from doing so.
The new bayonet-style lens protectors that twist and clip into place come with the camera or you can buy better-tempered glass versions to help protect your lenses if you drop the camera, so much better than those horrible sticky lens guards. To be honest, though I don’t like to put anything in front of my lenses as it will lessen the lens quality, risky I know!
8K Video, Wow, this takes up more memory and power so that is one of the reasons for the size increase, it has a bigger battery, so it lasts longer and you will need larger capacity SD cards because of file size. There is also a 5.7K mode which you can use, and it will use less memory. Just as a heads-up I hear about hot cameras and overheating, yes they do get warm, but I have never had an issue and was shooting lots of video in temperatures of 39 degrees without any issues.
The bigger size also means that it now sports a bigger 2.5-inch screen which is great for playback. Shooting at 8K resolution also means that I can crop in on the video (Zoom in) and still be at 4K which is a bonus.
As a creator, the beauty of the Insta360 X4 is I can not only shoot weird and wonderful things, but I can shoot everything around me and then reframe on my desktop or app to show the view I want, you don’t miss anything!
I love the new camera, well worth having one in your camera bag.

Bildqualität ist für eine 360° Kamera schon gut, wobei die Kamera auch nicht wirklich klein ist.
Der Bildsensor ist für das Objektiv leider zu klein bzw. bestrafen schon nicht perfekte Lichtbedingungen sofort mit Bildrauschen und Unschärfen. Heißt, mit dem Motorrad durch eine Unterführung fahren und das Bild sieht für diesen Moment unbrauchbar aus.
Von der Akkulaufzeit habe ich mir deutlich mehr versprochen. Bei der benötigten “8K” Aufnahme (entspricht ca. 1440p) hielt der Akku gerade mal 75min. Das ist zum Aufzeichnen von Motorrad Touren deutlich zu wenig. Ich bin durch andere Rezensionen von über 2 Stunden ausgegangen.
Auch nervig ist die GPS Verbindung zum iPhone 16. Diese ist nur aktiv, wenn man die Aufnahme vom Smartphone aus startet und das ist sehr unpraktisch, gerade mit Handschuhen an. Auch bricht die Verbindung gerne mal ab und dann werden in der Aufzeichnung keine GPS Daten mehr hinterlegt.
Kamera habe ich nun zurück gesendet. Der Hauptgrund war für mich die Akkulaufzeit und der Preis für das Gebotene. Ich würde sagen für 150-200€ wäre die Kamera fair bepreist.

Von zwei auf ein Stern reduziert.
Der Rückversand ist anders wie gewohnt von Amazon sehr träge und intransparent.
Die Kamera ist jetzt seit über einer Woche zurück bei Amazon und im Status steht noch, dass ich die Rücksendung starten könne.
Das Geld wurde mir nach der Rücksendung erst abgezogen und eine Rückerstattung ist nicht in Sicht.
Letztes Update: Rückerstattung von Insta-Produkten über Amazon hat nun knapp 3 Wochen gedauert. Daher bleibt es bei der Bewertung.

Ich war lange auf der Suche nach einer Kamera, die sowohl Action als auch kreative 360°-Aufnahmen meistern kann – und die Insta360 X4 hat mich nicht enttäuscht. Nach einigen Wochen im Einsatz bin ich mehr als begeistert von der Vielseitigkeit und Bildqualität.
📹 Videoqualität und Fotos:
Die 8K-Videoaufnahme bei 30fps ist ein echter Gamechanger. Die Schärfe und Detailtiefe der Aufnahmen sind beeindruckend, und selbst in Bewegung bleibt das Bild stabil. Für Social Media oder YouTube eignet sich die FlowState-Stabilisierung perfekt – selbst bei wilden Action-Aufnahmen. Die Fotos mit 72 Megapixeln sehen gestochen scharf aus und lassen sich problemlos vergrößern oder zuschneiden, ohne Qualitätsverluste.
🎨 Kreativität ohne Grenzen:
Was mich wirklich begeistert hat, ist die Möglichkeit, den Bildausschnitt im Nachhinein zu wählen. Man kann sich beim Filmen auf die Action konzentrieren und später entscheiden, welcher Winkel am besten ist. Das macht jede Aufnahme zu einer Leinwand voller Möglichkeiten. Besonders cool: Bullet Time und unsichtbarer Selfie-Stick – für mich absolute Highlights!
🔋 Akkulaufzeit und Verarbeitung:
Die Akkulaufzeit ist erstaunlich gut. Selbst bei längeren Sessions hatte ich selten das Gefühl, dass mir der Saft ausgeht. Die Kamera fühlt sich sehr robust und wertig an, was wichtig ist, wenn man sie in Outdoor-Umgebungen einsetzt. Regen, Staub oder kleine Stöße – die X4 macht alles mit.
📱 Bedienung und App:
Die App ist intuitiv und bietet viele kreative Optionen zur Bearbeitung. Auch wenn man kein Profi ist, kann man mit wenigen Klicks coole Effekte und Übergänge zaubern. Ein bisschen Einarbeitung braucht es, aber es lohnt sich.
🔍 Nachteile (wenn man sucht):
Ehrlich gesagt habe ich bisher kaum Schwächen gefunden. Vielleicht könnte die Lernkurve etwas flacher sein, aber das ist eher Jammern auf hohem Niveau.
✅ Fazit:
Die Insta360 X4 ist für mich die perfekte Kamera für kreative Köpfe und Action-Liebhaber. Ob beim Wandern, Radfahren oder für Social-Media-Projekte – sie liefert einfach in jeder Situation. Wer nach einer 360°-Kamera mit hoher Qualität sucht, wird hier nicht enttäuscht.

Some of the stuff I like about the X4 over the X3:
– Image quality is crisp and cleaner — especially, when zooming in from the recorded file (NOTE: See Video: The video clip is zoomed in from the X4’s recorded file — the image quality is so much better than the X3 when under this circumstance);
– Battery life is better — although, I purchased an extra battery, I have yet to use it in the same day — the X4’s battery has more than enough power for me in a day;
– The screw-in lenses are a good solution to protecting the camera lenses; and, surprisingly, they don’t create much distortion from most angles; and,
– The X4 does a better job than the X3 of not showing stitching, warping, or image distortion when the X4 is positioned parallel to the ground and sky — especially, near, or at, the circumference edges of the camera lenses with the protective lens covers off. (NOTE: See my pic riding my electric bicycle: the image does not show any stitching nor warping when I place the X4 parallel to the ground; hence, it’s difficult for the viewer to know the location of the X4.)
The stuff I don’t like about the x4:
– No Remote connection from the Apple Watch (Ultra) — I contacted Insta360 support; and, they told me they don’t have any plans, at this time, to update the firmware to connect to the Apple Watches;
– No GPS DIRECTION data in the Insta360 OS Application; BUT, GPS DIRECTION shows up as an option in the STATS’s menu when using the Insta360’s DESKTOP’s software. Insta360’s technical support is looking into this situation, as of 7-May-2024.
– As of 1-May-2024, the GPS Remote, the model without preview, doesn’t connect to my X4; I tried the firmware upgrade, and the GPS remote will not connect to my X4. I returned this remote.
– As of 1-May-2024, the GPS Preview Remote works with the X4 after the GPS Preview Remote’s Firmware Update, via the Insta360’s Application, under the System Settings.
(Even when using the GPS Preview Remote, No DIRECTION option shows up in the STATS’s menu option of the Insta360 OS Apple iPhone Application; BUT, DIRECTION shows up as an option in the STATS’s menu option in the Insta360’s DESKTOP software when using the GPS Preview Remote; I contacted Insta360’s customer support; and, they are working on the Insta360 OS app for the iPhone to address the DIRECTION option.)
– The X3 Battery does not work with the X4 — the X4 battery is bigger in size.
– Bluetooth Wake-up doesn’t always work with the GPS Preview Remote — I don’t know if the problem is the X4 or the GPS Preview Remote.
Notwithstanding the things I don’t like about the X4, aforementioned supra, they do not outweigh the features and benefits of the X4 — it’s a wonderful camera for my specific uses: flying, SCUBA, tennis, hiking, equestrian activities, and biking, and it is significantly a better camera than the X3, by way of recording motions and stills.
I returned my X3 — it was still in the Amazon return period; hence, I only use the X4 at this time.
I’m very happy with my X4.

I recently purchased the Insta360 X4, and it has completely revolutionized my approach to capturing action videos. As a avid BMX rider, I’ve tested numerous cameras over the years, but the X4 stands out as a true game changer.
Outstanding image quality! The X4’s shoots in 8K30fps, 5K60fps and for that cinematic look, 4K100fps. Plus 72MP 360 photos. The resolution provides sharp and vibrant images and the details are incredible!
Stabilization! The FlowState stabilization keeps the footage smooth and professional looking, regardless who’s using the camera. Completely eliminating the need for a gimbal.
The X4 doubles as a traditional wide angle camera with the Single Lens Mode, which can also shoot up to 4K60fps.
Durability! One of my favorite upgrades is the lens guards. The standard lens guard that comes with the camera is easy to apply and remove. No more having to worry about scratching the lens with certain shots that may put your camera in harms way. You can also upgrade to the premium lens guards that is more scratch resistant and for top image quality.
Battery Life! The improved battery life is a significant upgrade from previous models. It’s also water proof up to 10 meters out of the box.
Overall, the Insta360 X4 has exceeded my expectations in every way. It’s a powerhouse of a camera that is versatile and the quality is unmatched. Insta360 X4 is a must have. Highly recommended!

Insta360X4を購入しましたが、X4からジェスチャーモード機能が追加され､Vサインで写真が撮れて手を挙げると録画が出来る機能があるが､写真は撮れるが録画が出来る時と出来ない時があり､カスタマーサービスにメールで問い合わせ対応した所､リモコンのファームウェアバージョンが最新では無い事が分かり､カスタマーサービスの指示通りにバージョンアップしようとしてもアプリが機能しない。
結果点検､修理すると言う事になった。
送られて来たURLを開いて住所を入力しても入力出来ない。
そもそもジェスチャーモードが機能しないのは不良品であるのに返品交換に応じない。
メールでのやり取りも返信しても1日1回〜2回しか返信にならなくて話が進まない。
Amazonに電話したら直ぐに返品対応してくれた。
