This is not just a cookbook. It is an instruction manual for new diabetes patients. If you are used to eating all the junk food the Standard American Diet has offered you for the last 50 years, and then you’re hit with a diabetes diagnosis, this is the perfect book for you. It explains what diabetes is, the medications that are often prescribed, and offers to help you navigate, what to eat – including tips on fasting, that has been shown to be effective for diabetes. The only thing you have to do is make more time for cooking ahead. We carve out a few hours on a Sunday to make food for the week.

Another great book by the awesome Dr. Fung. Wonderful real food recipes with healthy ingredients. This book is beautifully bound and has wonderful pictures. In my family of 4 there are no diabetics, but we eat this way as prevention and a way to feel great. My kids (7 and 1) love this kind of eating and they are healthy and happy.

I often buy cook books. This one from Dr Jason Fung is excellent.
Very good quality hardback. Plenty of colour plates and pictures.
Already made two of the recipes.
Extremely helpful if you are Diabetic or even Pre-Diabetic., or anyone wanting loose weight and eat healthily.
Informative, simple to understand and one of the best books I have.
    Would recommend.

This cookbook gives a concisely explained, 15-page explanation Introduction of what to eat, when to eat it and other very helpful information. The bulk of the book contains a wide variety of recipes that I have enjoyed and still plan to try. I also find it helpful to have a 2-page “Pantry” section that suggests what to keep stocked so the recipe ingredients are at hand. Lastly, there are a variety of sample meal plans for those starting out with fasting, which would be helpful for those who need precise instructions to help with the learning curve of fasting. That is all the good. However, I have to deduct a start from my rating because I am used to seeing a Nutritional Breakdown of the recipe in the various diet-specific cookbooks I have collected over time. For those of us who want to track our fats, carbs, and proteins, it would be helpful to have included this information. How can the cover of the book claim “Low-Carb Recipes” and NOT provide the carbs per serving in the recipes? I personally love beets, but am avoiding them while trying to lose weight on Keto, because I don’t want to eat so much of my daily carb allowance by choosing them. The Rainbow Beets with Chevre recipe looks divine, but includes 8 sm-med beets, 1/2 walnut pieces and goat cheese. The recipe does not say how many servings this recipe makes and also does not provide how many carbs, fats and protein are in each serving. This oversight is just so disappointing.

The book is beautiful to look at but the recipes were just eh. Most of these can be found in other books. Plus a lot of these ingredients were unappealing to me. So I returned it.
